Home Theater Wall This was done for a long wall leading from a concession area to a home theater in a private residence in Scottsdale, Arizona. For this long-distance piece, we worked out the design details, going through many revisions, via e-mail until we came to this final layout. Most of the work is done on painted wood cut-outs – all of the main characters are cut-outs, which were shipped, then I flew to Scottsdale to install them, and work in some additional mural work. The “Coming Attractions” poster, Ernestine in the ticket window, cast shadows and details like popcorn, Gene Kelly’s umbrella and Chaplin’s cane are all painted directly on the wall. It was hard to get good photos of the finished piece as it is a long, narrow hallway, but the effect is very fun.
