Older Kids
Star Wars - This young man imagines himself to be the “world’s biggest Star Wars fan.” We had a blast painting so much fun Star Wars stuff all over his room – he isn’t even afraid of Darth Vader glaring down at him!
Redmond Sports Room - This little boy had a love for sports of all kinds, so his parents chose to depict some aspect from multiple sports. We painted players from football, basketball and baseball, and even hid a golf bag in the bathroom niche, as well as adding some pennants to the wall above his desk area. Karen worked on this room with me, painting the basketball player and the golf bag.
Theatre Playroom - These clients wanted to turn their extra room into a fantasy playroom for their children. Inspired by their love of dancing and entertaining, they built a stage, and box office and concession stand, and we painted everything in bold, Broadway/Hollywood black and white designs. Who could resist putting on a performance here?
Blooming Tree - This room featured a large blossoming cherry tree, and the little girl's pet dog. While I painted the walls, the client's mother painted the clouded ceiling as I offered advice and support, and we had a very fun time together.
Disney Fairies - This young lady was a fan of Disney Fairies, and also wanted a big tree to bring the outside in. There are a few other fairies hiding around the room…
This young lady had 2 inspirations for her room remodel - she loves to
dance, and she loves the colors in the quilt her Grandma made for her.
Here is what we came up with!
Some slightly more sophisticated images for kids that are growing up – I love the tropical room for a girl who was homesick for Florida while stuck in the Pacific Northwest. She especially missed the tree iguanas, and I had a lot of fun painting him climbing up her bookshelf.
Pet portraits remain a popular theme for kids and adults of all ages.
Austin wanted to capture his love for all sports in his new
bedroom, so we chose logos for his favorite teams, and a variety of
3-dimensional baseballs, soccer balls, footballs and basketballs. I
added a zig-zag stripe around the entire room to connect the elements and
bring a feeling of dynamic movement to make the balls seem like they are
bouncing around the room.

All American Boys’ room – These two brothers wanted eagles, a mountain lion and an American Flag. The rest of their room was decorated with country Americana fun stuff, so I tied in the wildlife with the flag image by blending the starry night sky around the ceiling gradually into the stars on the American flag. I love how this turned out. Everything is painted directly on the walls, except for the eagle above the beds – the ceiling had such a rough texture, that I used a wood cut-out for that part.
Wilderness Room – This little boy lived in the woods on the Sandy River, and his parents wanted the foliage and wildlife to reflect their natural surroundings. Hopefully, they don’t run into too many bears or mountain lions, but they do enjoy watching the Ospreys fishing in the river in their front yard!
